CALIFORNIA: Cal/OSHA updates infection prevention guidance

COVID-19Safety and Health

Cal/OSHA has been updating and expanding its guidance for specific industries on how to protect workers from COVID-19 (coronavirus). We previously reported on guidance for the construction and logistics industries. According to the web page for Cal/OSHA Guidance on Requirements to Protect Workers from Coronavirus, those documents were updated on May 5, 2020, but the changes appear to be very minor cleanups of typos. Still, you should download and review the latest copies that apply to your industry. The web page includes guidance for other industries as well, including health care, agriculture, child care, grocery stores, and mortuary and funeral homes.

Tips: These guidance documents don’t impose any new obligations, but they may be helpful in planning and implementing your organization’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) to address the virus. Questions? Contact your Vigilant safety professional.
