Preventing Discrimination & Bias for Supervisors
Course Description
Supervisors make numerous employee-related decisions every day, all of which can be affected by discrimination and bias. This 90-minute, in-person class is designed to help supervisors make fair and legal decisions based on work history, skills, and performance. The class also introduces the brain science behind bias and gives common examples of conscious and unconscious bias at work. Class participants learn about affinity bias and consider how it affects interviews, hiring, and promotion decisions. Importantly, supervisors aren’t made wrong for being biased; instead, they are encouraged to slow down, be aware, and manage bias to give all applicants and employees an equal chance to succeed. The class is taught by a Vigilant Law Group employment attorney using PowerPoint and an interactive format. An online version of this class is available as part of the Legal Bootcamp for Supervisors.
