Leaves of Absence and Attendance Management
Course Description
There are a vast number of federal, state, and local leave laws that protect an employee’s right to be gone from work, and in some cases, to be paid for that absence. Because supervisors are usually the first to hear about an absence or receive a leave request, they need to be prepared to recognize a potentially protected absence, ask appropriate questions, and promptly connect with HR. This 90-minute in-person class is designed to give supervisors a baseline understanding of applicable leave laws and the confidence to hold employees accountable for regular, predictable attendance. The class is taught by a Vigilant Law Group employment attorney using PowerPoint and an interactive format. We recommend Intro to the Supervisor’s Role and Responsibilities as a precursor to this class.
