Make the Most of Stay at Work Reimbursements

Washington’s SAW program offers an opportunity to offset the cost of bringing injured employees back to work—and the financial benefit can be significant.

Through this incentive program, the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) reimburses employers for part of the wages and related costs tied to light or modified duty work. When an employee returns to a medically approved job before being fully released, you may be eligible for:

  • 50% wage reimbursement for your employee’s base wages, up to 120 light duty workdays (maximum $25,000 per claim)
  • Expense reimbursement for tools, training, or clothing needed to perform the light duty job (within specific limits)
