“I Really Appreciate the Whole Package”
Part 2 of a conversation with Andrea McAuliffe, HR manager at Cutter & Buck, talks about her experience with Vigilant’s workers’ compensation Retro program
How has your experience been with the safety side of the Vigilant Retro program?
When I started at Cutter & Buck several years ago, I had come from a job working in human resources at the state level, where the human resources department didn’t have as much integration with safety as it does at Cutter & Buck. The Vigilant safety professional I began working with really helped me to understand all the elements of safety issues that I needed to apply here at Cutter & Buck. He was already familiar with our facilities so it was great that he could help me get the lay of the land from a safety perspective. We have worked with our Vigilant safety professional on several different compliance trainings for our distribution center and he has also helped identify and keep us up to date on OSHA regulations, which change often and are hard to keep track of. It’s helped keep us in compliance on a real-time basis.
How accessible are your Vigilant claims and safety managers?
I don’t feel like I am every waiting on a call or email back from Vigilant; it’s L&I I am usually waiting on or something else on our end. They are very accessible and always willing to meet on-site, and our safety professional makes regular visits to our distribution center. They are extremely accessible.
So, you’re pleased with the value you get from being a member of Vigilant’s Retro Group?
Oh yes. I feel that the value of the expertise and the support services is amazing. I am happy to pay my Retro dues every time because I know that I am getting my money’s worth in advice and support. Plus, since I’ve been here, we’ve received two of our Retro checks from injuries that have been resolved over the years and it’s so much fun to have people from Vigilant come out and present it. It’s also a good time for them to see how we’re doing and how much they have helped move the company forward with our claims.
Anything else you care to share about the Vigilant Retro program?
I really appreciate the full package that Vigilant provides. Having the employment law, the safety program and the Retro program all together allows me to really utilize all three aspects of it. I appreciate that all three of those sides that are so critical to my role in HR are partnered together. If I ever needed something that involved employment law, safety and L&I, I could not feel more confident having the support of Vigilant behind me.
