New Social Distancing Policy available

Vigilant has developed a new Social Distancing Policy to help employers comply with orders that have been issued by various state governors in the past week, requiring implementation of social distancing measures at work to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). In particular, Oregon employers are required to “establish, implement, and enforce” a social distancing policy in order to continue business operations under Governor Brown’s order.

While this model policy is a start in the right direction, it must be tailored for your workplace to be effective. You’ll need to walk through your facility and identify areas that need to be included in the policy, and provide solutions for employees on how to maintain social distancing while navigating through those areas. Involve your managers in both the problem-solving and enforcement process, as it will likely take employees some time to get used to the new way of moving through their workday. You should also involve your safety committee and contact your Vigilant safety professional for ideas. For questions or assistance tailoring this policy, contact your Vigilant Law Group employment attorney.
