Vigilant Training Courses

The Four Tendencies

Course Description

One of the big challenges of everyday life is: “How do I get people—including myself—to do what I want?” The Four Tendencies framework makes this task much easier. As you’ll see, it reveals how a subtle shift in vocabulary, a quick conversation, or a minor change in procedure can lead to dramatically improved results.

The Four Tendencies is a framework developed by Gretchen Rubin to explain the different ways people respond to expectations. The Four Tendencies workshop allows participants to understand the differences among the four types—Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels—as well as to engage in scenarios and discussions to practice applying that knowledge. In this workshop, participants come away with specific actions to improve their relationships with customers, co-workers, and employees, as well as friends and family.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training program, you will be able to:
• Identify the Four Tendencies and their patterns, strengths, and weaknesses and be able to quickly identify the tendency of others.
