Communication Essentials

Course Description

Assessing your communication strengths and weaknesses is the first step in becoming a powerful and effective communicator.

Often, we aren’t aware of how our communication is coming across to others, thereby building walls when we don’t even realize it. Without an opportunity to reflect and assess on our communication skills, it is difficult to address any gaps that may exist.

Additionally, communication skills are repeatedly rated as one of the most critical competencies for leaders to have in order to be successful in their roles. Therefore, it is often one of the most requested areas of employee development for learning how to be a better manager. This course focuses on developing a deeper awareness of non-verbal, intonation, tone-of-voice, clarity, and assertive communication skills, as well as active listening. Participants will learn how non-verbals and tone-of-voice can change the entire meaning of what was said, contributing to one of the main sources of miscommunication.

This hands-on, interactive workshop emphasizes reflection through self-assessment, awareness and skill-building for further developing communication techniques. Case scenarios are used to practice assertiveness skills, as well as good listening skills.  As one of our most popular courses, it’s a “must-attend” for anyone who is serious about becoming a better communicator. Even those who have had communications classes before find its self-assessments invaluable. This course is a one of the best ways to enhance your leadership skills by practicing effective communication.

Here’s what some of our class participants had to say:

“This class forced me to be introspective and honest with myself. I realized a major shortcoming in my communication style and now I have the tools to make it better.”

“Time flew by because of how interactive this class was.”

“I learned that my communication style doesn’t work well with everyone and I may need to adjust it to work better with individuals.”

“This class made me very aware of a bad listening habit.”
