New resources available for workplace disability accommodation

Disability

The US Department of Labor’s Job Accommodation Network (JAN) has released a comprehensive Workplace Accommodation Toolkit which provides employers with resources and tools needed to create a more disability-inclusive and compliant workplace. The toolkit contains practical solutions for workplace accommodations, coaching on the interactive process, and training on the basic obligations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It includes training videos on topics such as returning an employee who has suffered a back injury to work and retaining an employee with chronic health conditions.

The ADA requires that employers make reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities who need accommodations in order to apply for a job, or to perform the essential functions of their job. For more information about basic obligations under the ADA and to find out about other Vigilant resources, see our Legal Guide, At a Glance: Americans with Disabilities Act.
