New FMLA forms? Not really

You may have heard that the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has issued “new” model forms for employers to use under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), after the “old” forms expired on December 31, 2011. Don’t get too excited; the only thing that has happened is that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) extended its approval of the forms through February 28, 2015. None of the content changed, though, as you can tell by looking at the revision date in the lower right corner—it’s still January 2009. You can still access all of the forms on the DOL’s website.
