EEO-1 Report portal to open in April 2021


The portal for submitting EEO-1 Reports for the 2019 and 2020 calendar years won’t open until sometime in April 2021. Normally the portal opens each January, with a submission deadline of March 31. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) didn’t open the portal for the 2019 submission, due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Starting this April, covered employers therefore have two reports to submit: one containing 2019 data and one containing 2020 data. Employers must submit an EEO-1 Report if they have at least 100 employees, or if they have at least 50 employees plus $50,000 in federal contracts.

The EEOC has established a new webpage for its EEO-1 portal:, where you’ll eventually submit your data. Guidance on what information to submit is still available on the original EEO-1 webpage. The EEO-1 Report displays a summary of your workforce by race/ethnicity and gender, sorted into ten job categories, as of a snapshot date in the fourth quarter of the year. If you’re a federal contractor with at least $150,000 in federal contracts, we recommend that you choose December 31 as your snapshot date, so you can use that same date when you submit your VETS-4212 Report later in the year.

Tips: Once the federal EEO-1 Report portal opens and we know the new submission deadline, we’ll announce it in our newsletter. The EEO-1 Report no longer includes data on pay or hours. However, if you have any California employees, you must report information on their pay and hours worked to the state of California by March 31, 2021, using a new data submission portal which is scheduled to open by February 15, 2021.
